Deutschmann Sells Village Real Estate Brokerage to Former Associates

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jan. 7, 2019 – Village Founder and CEO Mark Deutschmann has sold his 22-year-old real estate brokerage to a group that includes business partners and former Village agents.

Deutschmann steps down as Village CEO immediately but retains a minority ownership and will remain with Village as chair emeritus and head of the City Living Group sales team. He also continues as CEO of Core Development and Village Holdings, which are not part of the deal.

The new ownership group is local and includes former Village real estate agents Zach Goodyear, Scott Evans and Brian Stoltzfus, and Village agent David Dorris. Goodyear, Evans and Stoltzfus left Village in 2012 to spearhead the re-branding of Parks (formerly Bob Parks Realty) and create an in-town presence for the company with the Gulch office, which they grew to over 60 full-time producing agents. They were responsible for high profile listings such as Twelve|Twelve in the Gulch and several other urban developments throughout Nashville.

Veteran real estate entrepreneurs Hunter Connelly and Aaron White, who started Core Development with Deutschmann in 2003 and later left to form Evergreen Real Estate, are also members of the new ownership group.

Deutschmann is a trailblazer who helped shape the development of Nashville by investing and developing in neglected neighborhoods near the city’s downtown core, including Germantown, 12South and Wedgewood-Houston. The ownership group shares his passion for revitalizing neighborhoods and building a strong urban core.

“This legacy sale reunites ‘the band,’ brings new energy to Village and keeps the Village Fund intact,” said Deutschmann. “I have the utmost respect for Zach as a leader in the agent community and am delighted the group is back together. We will be one of the strongest residential sales groups in the city and the only firm using real estate to effect positive social change in our community.”

Connelly is the new CEO and Goodyear will be the principal broker of Village under the new ownership structure.

Goodyear said the group wanted to create something with ownership potential for other real estate professionals who have the experience level, expertise and desire to be a partner in a locally owned and managed company.

“We had a fantastic seven years at Parks, but we were looking for the next challenge,” said Goodyear. “Our team had planned to launch a new brokerage, called Central Real Estate Partners, and offer a partnership model for strong, experienced agents. We have an opportunity to roll out the same model within Village and couldn’t be more excited to be back where we all started and build on what Mark created 22 years ago.”

Deutschmann started his real estate brokerage in Nashville 22 years ago and has grown it to more than 300 agents and staff with six neighborhood offices. Village is known for its culture of inclusion and providing the knowledge, expertise and resources to develop agents into leaders who make a difference in their industry and community.

He also established the Village Fund to benefit from the Village family’s collective success and prosperity. Each year the fund gets five percent of the company profits and support from staff, agents and vendors. The Village Fund has given $2.2 million in grants to local nonprofits helping to enrich and strengthen our neighborhoods.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and the collective impact we’ve had on Nashville during the past 22 years,” said Deutschmann. “I’m delighted Village will continue as a locally owned and managed brokerage developing leaders and doing good in our community.”
